Jeremiah 1 : 6 states this - " Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.." - this a verse I kept at the depth of my heart while facing the blunt of my depression for over two years. In the time I had been diagnosed, I experienced the grief and the pain that comes with depression and never saw a way out - my only answer being death which I attempted four times to ending my life. I had lost all hope in the field of medicine and lost my battle to depression - at least this is what I thought but the 'Almighty' had other plans for me! Maureen Moala, of Fijian descent and based with the Pacific Health Trust Canterbury reached out to me in the final hour when I was on a destructive journey to meeting with my creator and knowing the fate of my coward decision - the support she had shown, the understanding and the foundation she laid for me was my fourth chance at life, this I am forever grateful for and in awe of her endless support that saw me battle my illness head on with a more powerful tool - the knowledge and the understanding of Mental illness. Thank you Maureen for your compassion, love, support and fun personality - when I lost my grip with reality, you helped me back to the top. Today, I am a new being - life is just too precious to end so suddenly and I am on the path to a faster recovery with the support from Maureen and the team at the Mental Health in Canterbury.
